You know why you do what you do. Changing what happens in the moment is harder.

You've gained insight. You've talked about it. You've tried to change. But when you're stressed, hurt, overwhelmed, or vulnerable, old reactions can take over before you can do anything about it.

You know why you do what you do. Changing what happens in the moment is harder.

You've gained insight. You've talked about it. You've tried to change. But when you're stressed, hurt, overwhelmed, or vulnerable, old reactions can take over before you can do much about it.

You might find yourself:

  • Pushing through because slowing down feels impossible

  • Overthinking decisions and second-guessing what you actually want

  • Taking responsibility for other people's feelings

  • Pulling away, shutting down, or not trusting in relationships

  • Feeling overwhelmed by emotions or disconnected from them entirely

  • Trying to get everything “right” so you can finally feel settled

The gap between understanding and actually changing is where deeper healing begins.

The things you're trying to change usually developed for a reason.

Staying guarded. Keeping the peace. Being the responsible one. Thinking through every possible outcome. Pushing yourself to get it right. Handling things on your own.

At some point, these may have helped you feel safer, stay connected, avoid criticism, or manage situations that felt outside of your control.

The problem is that your system can keep relying on those same strategies long after they're useful. What once protected you can start getting in the way of closeness, self-trust, rest, and knowing what you actually want.

Therapy isn't about getting rid of those parts of you.

It's about understanding what they're protecting, working with what's underneath them, and helping you have more choice when those old responses show up.

How I Work

We get curious about what’s driving the reaction, not just how to stop it.

I work from an attachment-focused, IFS-informed perspective. That means we make sense of the parts of you that stay guarded, overthink, take care of everyone else, shut down, or push you to keep going, rather than treating them as problems to eliminate.

Depending on what you need, I also integrate Attachment-Focused EMDR and somatic work to process unresolved experiences and work with reactions that aren't shifting through insight alone.

HI, I’M TANA

I’m interested in what makes sense about the things you wish you could change.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in trauma, attachment, and the ways early relationships continue to shape how we relate to ourselves and other people.

My style is warm, curious, and active. You'll have space to talk and process, but I won't just sit back when I notice something important happening. I'll point out what I'm seeing, ask questions, and help us get curious about what's underneath it together.

My work is informed by IFS, Attachment-Focused EMDR, somatic approaches, and over 17 years of clinical experience. I adapt how we work to you rather than expecting you to fit neatly into one method.
